This summer, Amélie and Clément – two kindred spirits and, by their own admission, children at heart – exchanged vows. And for their fairytale wedding they chose the idyllic rural setting of Domaine Le Castelet.
This summer, Amélie and Clément – two kindred spirits and, by their own admission, children at heart – exchanged vows. And for their fairytale wedding they chose the idyllic rural setting of Domaine Le Castelet.
How did you meet?
At a medieval banquet in Paris. We were dressed as a knight and a princess!
What do you have in common?
We’re both children at heart.
What made you choose Domaine Le Castelet?
We both fell in love with the place, especially the reception room and the grounds. Another thing that really clinched it for us was the fact that there was on-site accommodation for all the guests: that was important for us as none of our friends or family live locally. And then there’s Suzy and Eric: we really had a good feeling about them, and that’s why we decided to go with Le Castelet.
What sort of decoration did you choose and why?
For the decoration, we decided to showcase the natural beauty of the venue: we didn’t want anything over- the-top, just a simple, natural decoration, with flowers and lots of plants. There was one thing that was important to us that our florist, " Imparfaite " in Montech in Tarn-et-Garonne, was able to deliver: we wanted the floral arrangement to be made up mainly of pot plants so that the guests could take one home with them and plant it in their garden as a souvenir of our special day. The florist designed some beautiful centrepieces with pot plants and hung kokedama in the function room: it was really magical.
How did you go about planning your Special Day?
To make it as stress-free as possible, we spread out the various stages of preparation over time and handled each one in order of priority. Eric and Suzy were a tremendous help, always available to answer our questions and give advice. We also delegated a lot of the planning to friends and family who volunteered to help.
What sort of ceremony did you have?
We decided on a humanist ceremony after the civil ceremony at the town hall. One of our friends, who was also the best man, volunteered to officiate, so we put him in charge of the ceremony. The three of us just met once to agree on a rough idea of the proceedings, then we left the rest to him – which meant the ceremony was full of surprises!
How and why did you choose your vendors?
The ones we really liked and ended up choosing were the ones who really listened to what we needed and had a very friendly, personal touch.
What was your favourite part?
It would be really hard to pick just one! The ceremony, and the reception, where our parents surprised us by booking a band, The Gartloney Rats: we danced all night and had a fantastic time. Then there was the Disney parade – another surprise our family organized for us: they all dressed up as Disney characters and put on a parade. Then there was the lighting of the fire for the Maori-style hog roast, which was a really special moment.
Any advice for other couples getting married?
Relax, try not to control everything and just enjoy every minute of it! There are bound to be a few hitches, but you don’t have to let them spoil your Special Day.
